ABSTRACT:
Modeling of climate and land-use influences on ecosystem processes is limited by problems in scaling from HJA climate data to the larger Blue River watershed, where management history and practice is much more representative of west slope federal lands. In particular, the area northeast of HJA is not covered by any former or current HJA/Snotel site. While monitoring one or more complete climate stations outside HJA is beyond our human capacity, it may be possible to collect limited climate data that would help verify downscaling of regional modeling (PRISM ppt). Thirty-two limited climate monitoring stations/sites have been added to Northeast of HJA. These limited, easily managed systems comprise hobo pendant temperature sensors and storage rain gauges at one or multiple sites in the Blue River watershed.
