METHODS:
Experimental Design - SA005:
Description: The original compilation of species were based on observations within the Andrews Forest from 1971 to 1976.
Citation: McKee, A., R. Nussbaum, and C. Maser. 1976. A checklist of the Terrestrial Vertebrates of the H.J. Andrews Experimental Forest. Unpublished.
Field Methods - SA005:
Description: This databases was constructed from an Andrews Forest report from 1976: McKee, A., R. Nussbaum, and C. Maser. 1976. A checklist of the Terrestrial Vertebrates of the H.J. Andrews Experimental Forest. Unpublished.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:
Currently, the Andrews Forest list includes 53 species of mammals. The array of species on the Andrews Forest is typical of northwestern forest landscapes. Because of the abundance of undisturbed old-growth forest stands, certain species have exceptional representation. The northern flying squirrel, red-tree vole, California red-backed vole, and the northern spotted owl are some examples.
