KEYWORDS:
Disturbance, community structure, geomorphology, debris flows, landslides, community composition, succession, disturbance
PURPOSE:
To examine vegetation development on landslides by sampling a chronosequence of landslides 6-28 years old; to determine species that successfully revegetate landslides, and determine whether species composition changes with landslide age.
METHODS:
Experimental Design - GV002 :
Description: Twenty 4.5 mi-acre were plots established in a grid pattern across each lankslide surface (fewer if landslide too small to fit 20 plots). Plots are circular.
Field Methods - GV002 :
Description: Ocular estimate of each species cover for whole plot.
SITE DESCRIPTION:
All plots on landslide scars and deposits, on all aspects, slopes 50-173%, elevation 1500-3600 ft, on clearcut sites, undisturbed forest sites, roadcuts and roadfills. Landslides occured between 1953 and 1975.
