KEYWORDS:
Disturbance, land use, fire management, disturbance, experimental forests
PURPOSE:
To help administrators, researchers, and students select appropriate areas for future studies, and to document existing facilities. The data is intended to document areas where restrictions are in place or where additional USDA Forest Service and other agency land use regulations need to be followed.
METHODS:
Processing Procedures - GI008:
Description: GI00801: The site locations were digitized on-screen from locations drawn on paper map. The data were entered into the Andrews SDE database and verified by site staff. The feature was exported into a shapefile. This layer includes campgrounds, shelters, and trailheads.
Processing Procedures - GI008 (1):
Description:

GI00802: In June 1993, the Willamette NF received a digital map from the Regional Office (R6) delineating Late-Successional Reserves and Adaptive Management Areas This map covered a 3 state area. The SO GIS shop clipped this map to the forest and province boundaries, making a "best fit" to our admininstrative, wilderness and subwatershed boundaries. This layer was then sent to the Ranger Districts for review and edits. District changes were incorporated in Fall 1993. This version was sent to the Regional Office for approval which it received in spring 1994. The layer then became the official representation of the Late Successional Reserves and Adaptive Management Area for the Willamette National Forest.

The coverage was clipped to the HJ Andrews Boundary. Coverage was converted to a shapefile and projected to Nad83 Datum.

Data was updated to match new harvest boundaries, 2014

Processing Procedures - GI008 (2):
Description:

GI00803: Control Areas: Created by George Lienkaemper in 1997. No other information available.

Coverage was converted to a shapefile and projected to Nad83 Datum.

Data was updated to match new harvest unit boundaries in 2014.

Processing Procedures - GI008 (3):
Description: GI00804: Potential Experiment Areas: Data for harvest units, control areas, late successional reserves, and salvage areas were removed from the Andrews watershed area. The areas not in any of the above were determined suitable for potential experiments. This process was redone in 2014 to match the new harvest unit boundaries. The harvest units were delineated based on the 2008 Lidar data.
Processing Procedures - GI008 (4):
Description: GI00805: Quarry locations: Quarry locations were drawn on Andrews Experimental Forest base map. The locations were then on-screen digitized into an Arc/Info coverage. Coverage was converted to a shapefile and projected to Nad83 Datum. Data points were checked against Lidar and digital orthophotography for locations. Update occurred in March of 2014.
